James K. Adamson, a well known and highly respected citizen, died at his home in Rogersville, Monday morning, July 24, aged 70 years, of paralysis. Mr. Adamson was a son of Stephen H. and Lucy Knight Adamson, and was born near Rogersville and had spent his entire life in Center township, with the exception of three years he resided in Illinois. He was a farmer and stock raiser and had been quite successful. He served as school director for several terms and also as auditor. Mr. Adamson was a faithful member of the Rogersville Christian church, being a charter member. He served as deacon for four years. When he was made an elder which he held at his death. On September 14, 1875, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Elizabeth Bayard, who with two children survive, Mrs. C. F. Wood and Albert B. Adamson, both of Rogersville. One brother, Charles Adamson, of Rogersville, also survives. The funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock in the Rogersville Christian church, conducted by the Rev. E. R. Athey. Interment in Rosemont cemetery. -
