Dominick V. Amato Jr., 21, of Oneida, passed away Thursday morning from injuries received in an automobile accident on Route 924 near Hazleton.
Born in Pottsville, Oct. 2, 1985, he was the son of Dominick V. Amato Sr., Shenandoah Heights, and Sally Stanell Yurick and her husband, James, Oneida. He spent the past eight years in Oneida, after moving from Shenandoah Heights.
He was employed by D'Amato's Pizzeria and Beer Store, Hazleton. He was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, Sheppton. He was a member of Sheppton-Oneida and McAdoo Fire companies and a local dart league. He was a graduate of Hazleton Area High School, where he played football, and attended Penn State University for two years, one at the Hazleton Campus and one at University Park. He had just received his boating license and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Jimmy Buffett fan.
He was preceded in death, by his paternal grandparents, James and Theresa Amato; and step-paternal grandparents, John and Geraldine Yurick.
Surviving in addition to his parents and stepfather, are brothers and sisters, James Amato, Harrisburg, Nichole Amato Testini, and her husband, Matt, Harrisburg, James F. Yurick Jr., and his wife, Heather, Mertztown, and Jennifer Yurick, Oneida, nieces and nephews, Hunter, JJ and Tori Yurick, and Angela Testini; maternal grandparents Peter and Mary Stanell, Shenandoah; a step-paternal grandmother, Amelia Yurcho, Nuremberg; aunts, uncles and cousins.
