LaRue H. Billhime, of 223 Carpenter Rd., Milton, PA died at his home. He was born Feb. 16, 1927 in Bloomsburg, PA, a son of the late Wilbur S. and Laura M. Weidman-Billhime. He married the former Mary E. Baumer, who survives. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 24, 2005.
LaRue was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.
He was employed as a fitter at Milton Steel, retiring in 1990. LaRue was also a crop farmer in East and West Chillisquaque townships.
Mr. Billhime was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Milton.
He was also a member of the American Legion, Milton and the Susquehanna Drifters of the Good Sam Club, where he served as wagonmaster.
Since retirement, LaRue loved to travel and spent his winters in Yuma, Ariz., until 2001. He also enjoyed tinkering and craft work.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary, are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Yvonne Billhime Sr. of Milton, 3 daughters and one son-in-law, Sherry K. Palko of Danville, Sheryl A. and Benny Housner of Milton, and Helen M. Billhime of Muncy; 12 grandchildren, Andrew and Alice Palko, Daryl and Bobbie Housner, April Whitenight, James Mingle Jr., Sherry Martin, Robert Billhime Jr., Kellie Bilhime and Christy Kern; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Chester Billhime of Newton Square; and four sisters, Fannie Shultz of Catawissa, Mabel Longengberger of Numedia, Ruth Hayhurst of Muncy, and Theresa Conrad of Williamsport.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Ralph, Donald, John, Earl, Martin and Franklin.
