Kenneth G. Appleton, 84, of Shaver Avenue, Shavertown, Kingston Township, died Tuesday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Howard and Lena Diltz Appleton. He graduated from Kingston Township High School and received his bachelor's degree in music from Ithaca College. He graduated with a master's degree in guidance from Lehigh University and had been engaged in doctoral studies at several colleges. Before retiring, he was employed as an elementary and junior high school music teacher and band director in Sussex, N.J., public schools. Previously, he was an associate professor at Arkansas State University and taught in schools in Charleston, S.C., Canton, N.Y., and Kingston, N.Y. He was a member of the Osterhout Bible Church, Tunkhannock, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert D., in 1988. Surviving are his wife, the former Rosemary Graber, and two nephews. -- The Times Leader, March 6, 1996
