James Armour, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of the northern part of Butler County, died at his home, about one mile west of Harrisville, Sunday morning at 9:00 AM, death being due to neuralgia of the heart. Mr. Armour was in his usual health at 8:00 AM, but was stricken soon after. Deceased was born in County Donegal, Ireland April 16, 1831. On March 23, 1854, he was married to Miss Catherine Nelson and one week later he came with his wife to America. They landed in Philadelphia and a short time later came to Pittsburgh, where they spent about seventeen years. Mr. Armour was a skillful landscape gardener and helped to plan the Uniondale Cemetery of Pittsburgh. He removed to the home near Harrisville in 1871 and soon became on of the well known citizens of that vicinity. The late Dr. Samuel Kerr, for years pastor of the Harmony United Presbyterian Church was instrumental in having Mr. Armour remove to Harrisville, their relationship being cousins. Deceased was a faithful member of the Harmony United Presbyterian Church and was a Christian of sterling character. He is survived by his widow and one son, William. One daughter, Sarah M. (William P.) McDougall, died in Mercer County several years ago. Two granddaughters also survive, Mrs. Clare Brown of Wilkinsburg and Miss Bessie McDougall of Mercer. The funeral services will be held at the late home Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 PM, conducted by Reverend H. C. Hildebrand, and burial will be made in the Harmony Cemetery.
