BUCKINGHAM — Myrtle Mitchell, 106, formerly of Milton and Mifflinburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at Buckingham Village Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was born Sept. 24, 1900, in Milton, a daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (Moyer) Reichley. In 1922, she married Forrest G. Walter, who died in 1962, and in 1977, she married Reuel Mitchell, who died in 1986.
She was a 1917 graduate of Milton High School.
Mrs. Mitchell was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Milton, until 1977, a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, from 1977 to 1997, and Grace Gospel Chapel, Plumsteadville, from 1997 to 1999.
She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving are five children, Margaret Downer of Auburn, N.Y., Edythe Mertz of Lecanto, Fla., Marjorie Koharski of Neptune, N.J., Dorothy Loffer of Plumsteadville and Forrest Walter of Harriman, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Miles, Raymond and Caroll, and one sister, Lura Zechman.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, by the Rev. James H. Gold.
Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.
