Emma Elizabeth Arnold, daughter of the late Willis and Maudie Mae (Hammerbacher) Moore was born on January 21, 1899 in Goodson and died Wednesday evening, July 29, 1992 in the citizens Memorial Hospital, Bolivar. She was 93 years, seven months and eight days of age.

The oldest of six children she grew up in the Goodson area and on June 12, 1918 she was married to Donald (D. B.) Arnold ,in buffalo. To this union six children were born, five of whom survive her. They moved to Louisburg where they lived on his home place and then after seven years, they bought a different farm on the edge of the Louisburg city limits. In 1938 she and D. B. opened a general store in Louisburg which they operated for several years.

Emma was baptized by Joseph D. Babb about 1917 in a little river near Polk and became a church member at Polk. She later moved her membership to the Louisburg Christian Church after her marriage in 1918. She attended her church faithfully until her health failed. She read her Bible daily until her eyesight failed. In the last few years, she was often heard to remark that she didn't know why she was still living, and couldn't go to be with the Lord. She was a loving and precious mother to her children, always ready to listen and understand any problem that her family might have. She bore her afflictions and patience and accepted life as it was dealt to her.

She always loved and looked forward to the Old Settlers Reunion (also known as the Louisburg Picnic) and missed it this year for the first time in 93 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, D. B.; her parents; one son, Alvin t. Arnold; one brother, Roy Moore and one sister, Lena Richards.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Arnold of Raytown and Claud Arnold of Springfield; three daughters: Glenda Taylor, Springfield; Colleen Payne, Bolivar, and Helen Hyde, Buffalo; two brothers, Walter Moore of Goodson and Willard Moore of the state of California; one sister Gladys Vincent of Half Way; 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also by several cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives who will sadly miss her.
