Coy Dale Adcock, 59, a resident of Daleville, Covington Township, since 1967, and a former resident of Unionville, Tenn., died Monday morning in the VNA Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center. He and his wife, the former Carol Roth, celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary in May.
Born in Bedford, Tenn., son of the late Grady Bearl and Verla Christine Jackson Adcock, he was a 1962 graduate of Unionville High School and an Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He later was a truck driver for Preston Trucking until his retirement in 2001. After retirement, he worked for Edwards Concrete, Elmhurst.
He was a member of the Daleville United Methodist Church and its choir. He volunteered his time with the Covington Fire Company to set up for their various functions.
He was a man who never forgot your name once he met you. He was well traveled in the lower 48 states and made friends everywhere he went. With him, short stories would become long ones and long ones would become longer, but they would always end humorous and enlightening.
Also surviving are a son, Kipp Edward and wife Denise Adcock, Daleville; four sisters, Diane Arnold, Wanda Sullivan, Joan Kirkam and Peggy Laws, all of Tennessee; two brothers, Gary, Alabama, and Michael, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Amanda Harlan, Wilkes-Barre, and Marissa and Mathew Mauer, both of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Adcock, and a brother, John Raybon Adcock.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Brian A. Strauch Funeral Home, Route 690 and First Street, Spring Brook Township, with services by the Rev. Gladys Fortuna Blake, pastor, Daleville United Methodist Church. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call Thursday, 5 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sky Lake Camp and Conference Center, 501 Law Road, Windsor, New York 13865-2128.
