SAPULPA, Okla.—Robert C. Ballard, 76, of Sapulpa, Okla., died Thursday[, May 4, 1989,] at a Tulsa hospital.
He was born Feb. 11, 1913, in Stroud, Okla., and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Ballard Sr. He as a retired oil field worker. Mr. Ballard was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of the Baptist Church, and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.
He had lived in Sapulpa for 33 years, and prior to that had lived in Stinnett[, Texas].
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday[, May 6,] at the Allen Freewill Baptist Church in Sapulpa. The Rev. Johnny Bilby officiated.
Burial was in the Belleville Cemetery in Belleville, Okla. Smith Funeral Home of Sapulpa was in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Ballard of Sapulpa; three sons, Ken Ballard of Victoria, Robert Ballard of Huntsville, Ala., and Joe Ballard of Locust Grove, Okla.; five daughters, Dee Brooner and Nelda Douglas of Sapulpa, Jean Lewis of Barnsdall, Okla., Janice Burgess of Mannford, Okla., Phyliss Nanney of Wagoner, Okla.; two brothers, Rex Ballard of Sapulpa and Clark Smith of Tennessee; three sisters, Pauline Wolf and Grace Eldridge of Sapulpa, Ruth Blosch of Tulsa, Okla.; and 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.—The Victoria Advocate, May 7, 1989; p. 12A
