Miss Maggie Beaty (Obituary)
Miss Maggie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Beaty of Smith Valley, died Wednesday evening of last week and the remains were interred Friday afternoon at the Bowman's Chapel Cemetery. The cause of death was diphtheria. Deceased was fifteen years of age last March and was a bright young lady. The bereaved friends have our warmest sympathy.
Not infrequently, the angel of death takes from our midst the brightest jewels that they may shine in the Kingdom of Light. This time it was Maggie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Baty of Smith Valley. For some time she had been subject to throat trouble; but when that dreaded disease, diphtheria, attacked her it was a struggle of only a few days. On October 27th she quietly passed away. Those of us who knew and loved her found it hard to realize that she who was so bright and young—for she was only fifteen years of age—must give up life with its brightest hopes.
We see her as she was a school where those who knew her best loved her most. Study was a pleasure to her and no doubt she looked forward with eager anticipation to a course at college. It will ever be an inspiration to recall appreciatively her beautiful traits of character and helpful services; she was one of the "pure in heart" and they shall see God. Long, will we hold her in loving memory. May the roses of the sweet spring time grow beautiful above her, and as though weeping for our loss, shower their ripening petals with rich perfume upon her resting place. M.B.W.
