Herbert Andress Jr., 85, of West Chester, died on Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at Paoli Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Mildred Michener Andress, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Herbert Sr. and Blanche Lightcap Andress.He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher.
Mr. Andress was a 1937 graduate of West Chester High School.He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving in New Guinea, Biak, and Owi.He worked as assistant manager at the former Warner Theatre and, after the war, as a salesman for Michener Stationary and Rothwell Stationary.
He was a member of West Chester Lodge No. 322 F. & A.M., West Chester; Howell Royal Arch Chapter, No. 202, West Chester; American Legion Post No. 134, West Chester; and Post No. 106 Veterans of Foreign War, West Chester.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Andress is survived by two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles H. Andress; and a sister, Ethel A. Fox.Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, at Calvary Lutheran Church.There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service, with a Masonic Service starting at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, 730 S. New St., West Chester, PA 19382; or Chester County S.P.C.A., 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.
