Elvan H. Chapman
Elvan H. Chapman, son of Claude Chapman and Inez (Harris) Chapman, was born January 27, 1927 in Boss Island, Johnson County, IL. He departed from this life Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at 10:18 AM at his residence in Belknap, IL. At the time of his passing, Elvan had attained the age of 78 years,
Elvan was united in marriage to Shirley M. (Anderson) on October 3, 1953 in Vienna, IL by Justice of the Peace Josh Arnold. Shirley survives.
Other Survivors include 2 Sisters: Etta Dunn of Vienna, IL; and Dorothy & John Gearing of Vienna, IL; 1 Sister-in-law: Clara Chapman of Vienna, IL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Elvan was preceded in death by: 1 Brother: Lowell LorenĚ Chapman; and 1 Brother-in-law: Ray Dunn.
Elvan was a US Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a Purple Heart recipient and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Elvan had been employed as a farm laborer for Allbritten Farms, and also as an auto mechanic for the former Lindsay Motors in Vienna.
Elvan attended the Belknap Community Church and the Foreman Community Church. He enjoyed gardening and auto mechanic work.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12th, 2005 at 1:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, IL. Rev. Gilbert Evans will officiate. Burial will be in the Anderson Cemetery near Boaz, IL.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM Friday, March 11th, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
