Had gone for an extended visit to Kentucky to visit daughters there. His illness did not get better and he died in Kentucky instead of the Pacific Northwest, Spokane, which was his home.
He was a Baptist preacher/missionary and traveled the nation establishing new churches and setting up local men as preachers. He helped establish a church and university in Tower City, North Dakota. He was also a missionary in the Eastern Indian Colville Reservation.
He married twice: Donna Freeman who died in childbirth with their daughter Donna, and then to Clara Elizabeth Miller, with whom he had six children.
