He got the nickname "Hun" b/c the nuns used to call him Honey b/c they thought he was such a cute boy!
He was the last of his parents' kids to pass.

His Dad was born an Alessandri, however, after coming to the USA it was Anglicized & made Alexander (but not all Alessandri's that came to the USA did so) & so many of the Alexander ppl in Belmont Co. are of no relation IF they were here (in the USA) BEFORE the late 1800's.

Earl J. "Hun" Alexander 96, of Lafferty, OH died May 25, 2011.

He was born January 23, 1915 in Lafferty a son of the late Louis and Ottilia Datres Alexander.

Hun was the owner of Alexander's Grocery in Lafferty, a WWII Army Air Corp veteran and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Lafferty.

He was a member of American Legion, Flushing, OH, Lafferty Moose, Knights of Columbus, and Auxiliary Patrol St.Clairsville

He was preceded in death by his siblings Clinton (Chinto), Oliver (Bibo), Ernest (Ernesto), and Mario Alexander, Mary (Alexander) Balbinot and Edith Datres.

Surviving is his wife of 62 years {SIC} Melchiori Alexander, his son {SIC} Alexander, Belmont, OH, his daughter {SIC} Bartlett, Wheeling, WV, his grandchildren {SIC} Alexander, {SIC} Swallie, {SIC} Caruso, {SIC} Caruso and {SIC} Simon and {SIC} Simon, his great grandchildren {SIC} and {SIC} Simon, and {SIC}, {SIC} and {SIC} Caruso.

Hun's funeral liturgy with mass will was held at 11 am Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church Lafferty with Fr. Frederick Kihm the celebrant. Interment followed in Union Cemetery St.Clairsville.
