In Nortonville, on Friday, September 4th, 1885,Mr. John ALEXANDER, aged 70 years. Jno. ALEXANDER was born September 13, 1815, Butternuts, Otsego county, New York. In 1833 he emigrated to Michigan, but returned to New York in 1845. He was married March 4th, 1841, to Philena BROWN, who died October 9th, 1844. In 1852, Mr. ALEXANDER came west, staying seven years in Knoxville, Iowa, and then settled near Winchester, this county, remaing in this neighborhood until the time of his death, except during the time he was in service of his country. He was discharged for disabilities received in battle, and has been an invalid for more than 23 years. At the age of 23 he united with the M.E. church, and has been a faithful and consistant member since. His funeral was from the Methodist Church last Saturday, Rev. HOYES conducting the services.
