FINDLAY - Mark A. Ammons, 31, died at 9:20 am Friday in Blanchard Valley Hospital following
an extended Illness.
He was born Jan. 30, 1950 in Findlay, the son of Don B. and Irene Rice Ammons, who survive in Findlay. On July 15, 1978, be married Jennifer Benner, who also survives in Findlay. Mr. Ammons was a teacher and basketball coach for Arcadia School. From 1971 until 1975. he was a professional baseball player for the
Philadelphia Phillies. He played briefly for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1975, and later returned to Findlay where he was active in the YMCA as
a basketball supervisor. In 1977 he was the assistant basketball coach at Findlay College
Later that year he was a teacher and coach in Bettsvtile until 1979 when he returned to Arcadia
Mr. Ammons was a graduate of Findlay High School and Bowling Green State University. He was selected to the first team All Mid American Conference in 1972 for his achievements in baseball, and in 1973 he was selected for the Outstanding College Athletes of America.
Survivors also include a son, a brother, and a sister. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday
at St Michael's Catholic Church. Findlay. Rev. John Missler officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home after 7 tonight
and after 2 p.m. Sunday.
