Doris H. Abell, 80, of Wausau died Thursday, June 22, 2000, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital She was born June 1, 1920, in Evanston, Ill., daughter of the late Philip and Bertha (Burkart) Hopkins. She married William V Abell Sr. on Sept 27, 1947, in Evanston, Ill. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1997. Doris was employed as a librarian at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, Ill, for several years prior to her retirement. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Westmoreland, Mississauga, Ontario, and Julie (Robert) Kopp, Hawthorn Woods, Ill.; two sons, William (Lisbeth) Abell Jr., Schofield, and Philip Abell, Mundelein, Ill.; five grandchildren; and one brother, William Hopkins. A sister, Eleanor Neidhardt, preceded Doris in death. A private family memorial Mass will be on Saturday, June 24, 2000, at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau. Brainard Funeral Home, Wausau, assisted the family with arrangements.
