Dorothy M. Alton, 69, a resident of Oswego, passed away Saturday, July 17, in St. Luke Health Services, after a short illness Mrs. Alton was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Marguerite (Taylor) McLean. She was a life resident. Dorothy had worked at Burns Brothers Plumbing in Syracuse, for several years. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, and the church choir. Dorothy was a singer and a songwriter. She was a member of the Snowbelt Songwriters Guild. As a child, Dorothy performed with her sisters as "The McLean Sisters", and later performed with "The Mac Sisters" band. She is survived by her husband, James Alton Sr. of Oswego; 2 sons, James Alton Jr. and Frederick Alton, both of Oswego; a sister, Patricia Pascarella of Volney; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Frederick McLean, and 2 sisters, Carolyn Gunther and Marguerite Romanoff. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Thursday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairdale Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 3:00 to 6:00pm Wednesday, at the funeral home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
