RAEBURN (MIDGE) R. BATES MORRISVILLE - Raeburn (Midge) R. Bates, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009.
He was born April 3, 1920 in Morrisville, the son of William and Anna (Weinmann) Bates. He was predeceased by his wife, Harriet (Labare) Bates and by his son, William R. Bates. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific theater. Midge was a lifelong resident of Morrisville where he worked for over 30 years at Morrisville Lumber Company. After retiring he worked as a Town Lister for many years.
He is survived by a son, Peter Bates, Sr. and wife, Pamela of Underhill, Vt.; and a daughter, Sheila Hurst and husband, Bill, of Gilmanton, N.H. He is also survived by six grandsons; Peter Bates, Jr., and wife, Dawn, of Burlington, Vt.; Jason Bates and wife, Sarah of Maiden, N.C.; Kyle Bates of Stowe, Vt.; Curt Bates of Portland, Maine; Jim Hurst and wife, Maranda , of Gilmanton, N.H. and Bill Hurst of Laconia, N.H. and five greatgrandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Morrisville. White-Fiess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
