George Bell called Home Saturday Eve. Soldier Veteran Succumbs to Cancer of Stomach - Many Children Survive.
Saturday evening at 11:30 o'clock, death called George Bell, aged 76 years, at the family home on West Beatty Avenue, between First and Second Streets. Cancer of the stomach was the immediate cause of death.
The deceased had been abed for the past four weeks, while his ailment had made him a sufferer throughout the summer. He was a highly respected citizen and a veteran of the Civil war, having been a member of Company E, 122nd O.V.I. He was a member of the Cambridge post G.A.R., this city.
Eight years ago the deceased was wedded to Mrs. Anna Robinson, to this union there being born one son, Edward. (George would have been 68 years old at the time of the wedding). Besides these survivors, the deceased had 13 children by his first marriage, as follows: Hamilton Bell, of Oklahoma; Mrs. Jane Hamilton and Mrs. Della Heller of Kansas; Mrs. Mary Carson of Colorado; James Bell, of Uhrichsville; Robert Bell of Pennsylvania; Oscar, John and George Bell, together with Mrs. Margaret McCathen of this city, Mrs. Amanda Adams of North Salem, and Mrs. Hariet Lanning, of Klondyke Mines.
Funeral services over the deceased will be held from the home tomorrow, Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Dr. W.H. McFarland, with interment to occur in the Bell cemetery at North Salem.
