Mary Elleanor Long was the daughter of Jonathan and Jane Long. She married first to Thomas Adams. They were parents of Jonathan (1827-1830), William (1829-1865), John (1832-1908), James (1834-1906), and Sarah Jane (1836-1839)Thomas passed away September 6, 1836. She remarried to Benjamin P. Gaines, June 10, 1847. Benjamin was a widower whose wife Magdalen Neff Gaines passed away May 12, 1845. Benjamin and Mary Long Adams were together in the 1850, & 1860 US Census records. In 1870 Mary is living with her son James Adams and Benjamin is living with his son Kemp Gaines.
