In 1900 he is Antone Barber at St. Helenstown, Columbia. He is a farmer. At the same address is Matilda Rombolski, 49, born Poland (Ger.), a "hired woman" and widow. Also, her sons, Conrad 14, a "hired man", born Wisconsin, Alexander 9, born Oregon, and Frank 4, born Oregon. The latter two are listed as boarders. Matilda had 8 children, 5 of whom are living. Anton is listed as able to read and speak English, but cannot write it.
