"Sale Yard Worker is Killed by Bull, Funeral Saturday
Attacked by a bull that was going through the scale pen at the Ontario Livestock Commission Company's sale yard Tuesday, John Arthur Trueax, 59, of Vale, died that night in the Holy Rosary Hospital from injuries suffered. Mr. Trueax, who worked at the sale yard on sale days, found himself cornered in a small pen near the scale pen with the bull, which was a range animal and wild, though hornless and not necessarily vicious. As the man climbed upon the fence, the bull charged him and he was tossed over the fence, falling on his head. Though he possibly suffered internal injuries, death was reported due to a skull fracture.
Born July 19, 1891 in Nebraska, Mr. Trueax had lived in Oregon for 50 years. He is survived by his wife, two children, father, and brother, all of Vale.
The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Nazarene Church in Vale with burial at Harper."
