Joseph Adam, 95, died April 17, 2004, of natural causes in Klamath Falls.
Services were held Monday in Eternal Hills Funeral Home with Father Pirmin Ngolle officiating. Interment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens
Mr. Adam was born in Cornol, Switzerland, to Francois and Louise (Barrett) Adam.
He was raised in Switzerland and helped his father on the family farm after completing the eight grade in his education.
In 1930, he moved to the United Satates, where he helped his cousin, working at a motel.
During World War II, he served as a cook in the Army from 1942 to 1945.
He married his wife, Edna, in Monterey, Calif., on Sept. 6, 1945.
While in Monterey, he owned Jonnie's Kitchen, a restaurant that was popular with high school students, who, even as adults, remembered his mashed potatoes and gravy as one of their favorite dishes.
He later worked as a cook on the trail crew with the Forest Service until he retired.
Mr. Adam was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church since 1958. He participated in church activities and did cooking for the church. He was also a member of the American Legion.
He got a kick out of teasing people. He cooked both as an occupation and a hobby, especially french onion soup and fried rabbit. His free time was spent in his yard and with his dog.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Jim and Shelia Adam of Monterey, son Robert Adam of Salinas, Calif; sister Ide Hecke of Switzerland; sisters-in-law Martina Healy of Newton, Iowa, and Bernadine Busick of Grand Rapids, Mich.; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two sisters.
