Lyle G. Adams

June 16, 1927 - July 30, 2012

SALEM - Lyle passed away peacefully early July 30, survived by his wife of 58 years, Susan, and daughters Katherine and Kris. He also leaves behind his beloved siblings sister Melva Champion and brother Ed Adams of Omaha.

Dad was a Renaissance man dressed in worn overalls. He was a lifelong sheet metal worker until his retirement. But over the years, he built gorgeous furniture, yard decorations and all kinds of equipment -- usually from scraps he found in the garage. He always had time to assist anyone who needed help, friends and strangers alike. Though he didn't finish high school because of family concerns, he was a voracious reader, and could discuss any subject with intelligence and ease.

His love of animals ranged from saving abandoned cats to ensuring that every bird had a house and every squirrel had enough food.

Though Dad was basically a shy and modest man, he truly enjoyed every encounter with anyone who came into his life. He felt truly blessed and got great joy from our 11-year-old friend Lucy.

We're holding a graveside service at Claggett Cemetery, Sunday, Aug. 19 at 1:30 p.m. A reception will be held afterwards.

If you'd like to honor Dad's memory, he'd love the idea that you'd donate something to The Willamette Humane Society, The Tokarski Hospice Home or any organization whose mission is to protect wildlife.
