Ray Edgar Andrus, 74, of Quanah, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, in Quanah. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, at First Baptist Church in Quanah with Rayford Walker and the Rev. Joseph Jones, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Goodlett Cemetery, with arrangements under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Quanah.
He was born Dec. 14, 1939, a son of the late Joseph Lee "Joe" and Audrey Belle McCagg Andrus. He and his wife Marijo were married Oct. 22, 1977, in Omaha, Neb. Andrus served 12 years in the U.S. Navy and 10 years in the Air Force as a computer maintenance operator supervisor. He attended the First Baptist Church and the couples Sunday school class. Andrus was the former owner and operator of Ray's Discount Tobacco. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Century Car Club, and was an avid gun collector.
Survivors include his wife, of Quanah; a son, Ray Andrus Jr. of Beaumont; three daughters, Candace Akins of Omaha, Neb., Sandra Romero of Vidor, and Randa Betts of Olney; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
