Gladio I. Baca, age 87, a resident of Adelino, NM, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2007. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Tome. Gladio had been a life-long resident of Adelino and a life-long farmer and rancher. Corporal Gladio I. Baca served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II where he served his tour of duty with the 21st Chemical Company. He was a recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon; 5 Bronze Stars; and the Good Conduct Medal. Gladio had worked at Sandia National Labs as a security guard for 27 years. He was an extremely hard worker and he never learned to slow down, although everyone had advised him to do so. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Atocha Baca and Leocadia Sanchez Baca; three brothers, Doroteo R. Baca, Edwin Berry and Ramon Baca; paternal grandparents, Teodoro and Ramoncita Baca; maternal grandparents, Jesus and Beatriz Sanchez; and his mother and father-in-law, Luis and Eloisa Padilla. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Consuelo Padilla Baca; his daughter, Janice Torres and her husband, Edgard and their children, Olivia, Bianca and Daniel; his brother, Max Baca and his wife, Teresa; three sisters, Crisanta Padilla, Filo Otero and her husband, Jose; his in-laws, Carmen Baca, Assunta Berry, Benito Montoya, and Luz Garcia; and many loving nieces and nephews. All Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Parish in Tome, on Sunday, April 15, 2007 beginning with a visitation at 2:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 3:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Tome Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ramon Baca, Dante Berry, Edgard Torres, Michael Baca, Leon Otero, and Fabian Padilla. Sign Gladio's online register book at www.romerofuneralhomenm.com Romero Funeral Home, 609 N.
