Will was the son of J. A. and M. R. Chambers. On October 1, 1865 he enlisted in the Confederate Army at Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri and served as a Private during the Civil War under Capt. H. C. Donnohue in the 40th Regiment E.M.M. Company C.
On February 1, 1877, he married Mary Josephine Newkirk in Moniteau County, Missouri. Their children were

John Madison, and
In February of 1905, Will's wife of 28 years passed away.
On January 17, 1906 in California, Moniteau County, Missouri, Bill made a child-bride of Cora Boyer and eventually moved to Roy, Harding County, New Mexico where their children, Mary Lee, Eva Mae and Maxine were born.
His wife, Cora, died at a hospital in Fulton, Callaway County, Missouri in December of 1928. He arranged for Mary Lee, Eva Mae and Maxine to live in Moniteau County in the home of Blance and Noah Asbury. At some point, they were sent to an orpahage in Moniteau County, Missouri. One daughter, Maxine, was adopted.
Will died in Roy, Harding County, New Mexico where his oldest daughter (Jennie Rose Chambers Scott) lived.
