Our beautiful purple butterfly, Jillian Therese Alderete has opened her wings and flown into paradise to be reunited with our Lord for eternity, age 31, she was a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, NM. Jillian passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by her loving family. Jillian was born on May 10, 1980 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to George Alderete and Gloria Alderete. Jillian was a lifelong Catholic and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Jillian was an accomplished author having two books published. Her book entitled "Footprints of Faith" contains inspirational poetry, the second book entitled "Taste & See the Goodness of the Lord" is a cookbook containing traditional Northern New Mexico recipes. Jillian felt privileged to have also recorded a CD entitled "Cristo Rey Mi Amigo" with the Cristo Rey Choir. Jillian was currently working on a second poetry book entitled "Burning Love". Jillian was a very generous, considerate and positive person. Jillian liked spending time with people and was very witty. Jillian had a beautiful sense of humor. When she took on a project she always completed it with pleasure and a sense of accomplishment. Her devotion to Saint Therese the Little Flower was evident in her many "little ways". Her love of God shone through in the way she attracted people to herself with the radiant smile that was always on her beautiful face. Jillian had an unfailing belief in the Eucharist and mass as well as a great love for the Most Blessed Sacrament. Jillian was very instrumental in organizing the celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday as well as the Feast of Corpus Christi for the Immaculate Conception Church. Jillian enjoyed baking and cooking and shared the fruits of her labor with neighbors and friends. Jillian was a member of National Honor Society and was named to "Who's Who Among American High School Students". Jillian was presented the "Editor's Choice Award" for outstanding achievement in poetry. Jillian was presented a proclamation by the Legislature of the State of New Mexico for her faith, courage, and determination and for her example of leading by devotion and dedication. Mayor Henry O. Sanchez, along with the city council proclaimed "Jill Renee Therese Alderete Day" on her 27th birthday on May 10, 2007. Jillian loved listening to Christian music and Oldies music- especially 60's music. Jillian was preceded in death by her aunt, Kathy Bustamante; paternal grandparents, Joe and Agneda Alderete; maternal grandparents, Joe S. and Mary J. Martinez. Jillian is survived by her parents, Gloria and George Alderete, of Las Vegas, NM; brother, Kenny Alderete and his wife, Annette, of Las Vegas, NM; nieces, Brianna, Kendra, and Julianna Alderete, Angelica and Arianna Vigil all of Las Vegas, NM, nephews, Benito, Mateo, and Diego Marcos Vigil; maternal grandparents, Ramon and Sophie Baros, of Albuquerque, NM; uncle, Leo Martinez and family of Albuquerque, NM; aunt, Theresa Gonzales and family of Las Vegas, NM; uncle, Joey Martinez and his companion, Florence and daughter of Las Vegas, NM; aunt, Lorraine Martinez and family of Las Vegas, NM; uncle, Daniel Martinez and his fiancÚ, Rhonda of Ruidoso, NM; aunt, Lillian Cuollo and her husband, Santo and family of Ohio; uncle, Raymond Baros and his wife, Shirley and family of Albuquerque, NM; aunt, Diane Gutierrez and her husband, Danny of Albuquerque, NM; aunt, Joana Dow and her husband, Daniel and family of Rio Rancho, NM; aunt, Romaine Stricklin and her husband, Greg and family of Albuquerque, NM; aunt, Barbara Dupuis and family of California; special aunt, Rita Winters and family of Seattle Washington; aunts, Leonore Ortiz of Arizona, Pauline Ortiz of Albuquerque, NM, Irene Ortiz of Albuquerque, NM, Lupe Jacquez of Taos, NM; uncles, Joe A. Jacquez of Santa Fe, NM, Eddie Jacquez of Taos, NM, and Bernie Jacquez and his wife, Geri of Espanola, NM; cousin, Mark Bustamante of Albuquerque, NM; Papa Father, Monsignor Sipio Salas of Albuquerque, NM; numerous, numerous, close special friends that touched Jill's life, numerous cousins, other relatives and family friends. Visitation will take place all day Monday, February 27, 2012 at Rogers Chapel. Celebration of Jill's life will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Las Vegas Christian Center in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Rosary devotional services will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM. Funeral services will begin immediately following the Rosary at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas, New Mexico with Father George Salazar as celebrant and Father Vincent Chavez as con-celebrant. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM with the following as casket bearers, Leo Martinez, Joey Martinez, Daniel Martinez, Raymond Baros, Danny Gutierrez and Daniel Dow. Serving as honorary bearers will be all her nieces, nephews, and close friends.
