Robert Bliss Shaw, son of Rev. Luther and Julia (Chamberlin) Shaw was born in Romeo, Macomb County, Michigan Territory. His mother passed away before he was 3 months old. Rev. Luther Shaw married Lucy Ann Wright of Tallmadge, Ohio on June 12, 1835. She mothered baby Robert and his 2 1/2 year old sister Julia Electa Shaw. Robert Bliss Shaw lived in various places in Michigan while his father ministered to the area churches. After he was grown he moved to Forest (Otisville) MI where he met and married Mary Frances (Fannie) Crowl. They were married by his father on January 9, 1861. Robert and Fannie lost three children while living in Forest (Otisville); a little girl, Bernard L. and Robbie, all buried near their grandfather Lyman Crowl. After 1874, Robert, Fannie, and their two sons, Harry and Bernard Bliss, moved to Alabama. Robert and Fannie lost another little girl, Mary, in Alabama. They also took in a young girl, Lena Hannah, and raised her as well as their two grandchildren, Robert Lyman and Mae Shaw. The family followed their grown son Bernard Bliss Shaw to Oklahoma where Robert Bliss was postmaster from 1903 through 1907 in Blair, Oklahoma. While living in Blair, Fannie visited their son Harry who married Lena Hannah and had moved to Trinidad, CO. In 1904, while there, Fannie became ill and passed away July 19, 1904. She was buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Trinidad, CO. Eventually Robert Bliss Shaw followed his son Bernard Bliss Shaw and family to the northeastern prairie in New Mexico. He spent most of his time in New Mexico and visiting his other son in Texas. He was a fierce checker player, playing with all his grandchildren in New Mexico and Texas. He passed away in his 94th year in Harding County, NM at the Old Shaw Place.
