Charles James Anaya, 28, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 25, 2001.

Charles is survived by his parents, Henry Sr. and Irene Anaya; his brother, Henry Anaya Jr., and wife, Renee; three children, Raeann and Mariah Anaya and Joseph Alderete; two nephews, Chris and Zack Anaya; the mothers of his children, Rachel Alderete and Lucia Martinez; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Charles was a member of the Catholic Church and at a young age he took up the art of boxing, being coached by his father.

He became a professional boxer at the age of 18 with a record of 9-2-1.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW. A Rosary will be recited by Rolando and Annie Saavedra, Wednesday evening in the St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW, at 7:00 p.m. with visitation after 6:30 p.m. Final visitation will be Thursday morning in the church from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Father Daniel Balizan.

Interment will follow in the Los Padillas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Adam and Rudy Leyba, Manuel Gonzales, Lee Montoya, Richard Alderete Jr., and Russell Mora. Honorary pallbearers will be his coworkers from K.O. Construction. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors SW, in charge of arrangements. (DO)
