Jose George Baca, 62, of Clovis, NM, died Sunday, February 6, 2011, at his home in Clovis. A rosary will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 10, 2011, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Sotero Sena officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Honor. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Gallegos, John Trujillo Jr., Patrick Mondragon, Saunty Betancourt, George Eloy Baca II, Dominic Baca, Jason Cadena, and B.J. Casaus. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Romero Jr., Joshua Diaz, Bryan Trujillo, Mark Baca, Perry Green, and Benito Chavez.
George was born December 4, 1948, to George Eloy and Estefanita Montano Baca in Clovis, NM. He was a lifetime resident of Clovis and worked at Tyson Foods as a processor. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, American Legion Post 25 and served in the United States Army. George loved to dance and enjoyed life to the fullest. To some he was known as, Crazy Uncle George.
George is survived by a son, Stephen Michael Baca of Grants, NM; daughter-in-law, Shantiell Salazar of Canyon, TX; special friend, Linda Armijo of Clovis, NM; four brothers, his twin, Leonard Joe Baca of Reno, NV, Genaro Baca, Clarence Baca both of Clovis, NM, and Anthony (Angelina) Baca of Albuquerque, NM; eight sisters, Dolores (Robert Jr.) Solano, Lucy (Ray Castillo) Mondragon, Alice DePoto, Frances (Ronny) Apodoca, Georgia (George) Lucero, Agnes (Mike) Baca, Yolanda (Eladio) Loera all of Clovis, NM, and Kathy Ann (Jesse) Diaz of Austin, TX; six grandchildren, Jaidyn Baca, Georgie Salazar Jr., Renee Salazar, Anghelica Salazar, Kerri Salazar, and Isabella Salazar and numerous nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, George Salazar; three sisters, Albinita Baca, Mary E. Baca, and Doris R. Betancourt; sister-in-law, Christine Baca and two brother-in-laws, Adan Mondragon and Nick DePoto.
