Frances McAdams Adkins passed on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2012. Raised in Dallas, she attended Texas Women's University, the only child of Bertha and W.J. McAdams. After 2 years, Frances transferred and received a B.A. from the University of Texas in Austin. Mrs. Adkins married her college sweetheart, Leslie Roger Adkins on June 21, 1935.
They moved to Kerrville for 22 years. She was active in the First Presbyterian Church, school, civic and social life of that community. She helped bring the first public library to Kerrville.
In 1957, the Adkins moved to Austin. She was secretary to the Executive Director of the State Bar of Texas for eight years. Frances then became administrative assistant of the U.T. Law School Foundation and for Page Keeton.
Frances and Roger loved to travel, particularly from 1969 until Roger's passing in 1994. Reading, gardening and duplicate bridge were her hobbies. Frances had been a resident of the Heritage at Gaines Ranch since May 2008.
Preceding her passing were her husband, Leslie Roger Adkins; sons, Lieuen Roger Adkins and William Dennis Adkins.
She is survived by grandsons Dennis Anson Adkins, Wesley Patrick Adkins, and a great grandson Corbin Ian Adkins, all of Austin.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012, at Glen Rest Cemetery in Kerrville.
