Delauvino A. "Alex" Gonzales, age 64, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Alex was born in La Madera, NM and was a resident of Rio Rancho, formerly of Alameda. Alex will be fondly remembered as "El Chocke", the legend. Any spare time he had was spent on his ranch in San Luis, NM tending to his cattle and horses. Alex enjoyed hunting and the great outdoors. Alex retired from the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy after 26 years of service. Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin amd Roselia Gonzales; a son, Victor Gonzales; grandson, John Andrew Gonzales. Alex is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Susie Gonzales; his children, Sandie, Annette, Erlinda, Darlene, and a great-grandson Victor Gonzales and a nephew, Ronnie Salas, who he was raising as his own; five grandchildren, Scottie, Sherii, Brittany, Natasha and Joshua; his great-grandchildren, Emily, Brandon, Daveon, Alejardro, Ellena, Tavion, Dottiimay, Jose and his little angel, Penny. Also surviving are six sisters; nine brothers; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Alex will be greatly missed by his loving family and those whose hearts he touched. His legacy will forever live on in his children and grandchildren who he loved so very much.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 6, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Final viewing will be on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary, 9420 Fourth Street NW. Service of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at La Madera Cemetery, La Madera, NM. Casket Bearers will be Paul Gonzales, Adam Flores, Joe Lucero, JR Saiz, Derrick Shaw and Damian Saiz. Honorary Bearers will be Fernando Reda, Joshua Marez, David Gonzales, Ray Serna and Scott McDougle.
