Bernice "Tennie" Cooper, 79, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari.
Mrs. Cooper was born Nov. 3, 1926, in Finley, Okla., to Bill and Audie Standridge. She attended schools in Finley. She married Eugene Hugh Cooper on June 6, 1944, in Antlers, Okla.
While living in Santa Rosa, the couple owned and operated the Cooper Feed Company. The couple made their home in Tucumcari in 1986.
Mrs. Cooper was a member of the Sunshine Chapter No. 44 Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, J.D. Standridge.
Survivors include her husband, Hugh Cooper; a niece, Vickie Brown of Tucumcari; a sister, Nadine (husband Dan) Brown of Finley, Okla.; a nephew, Hugh (Denise) Chambliss of Albuquerque; a brother-in-law, John Higgins of Fort Sumner; four nephews, J.R. (Eva) Higgins of Cuervo, Freddie Higgins of Dallas, Joe Higgins of Dallas and Geno Higgins of Fort Sumner and many friends in Santa Rosa and Tucumcari.
Hugh Chambliss, Don Thompson, Bo Cribbs, Ace Thompson, Dan Brown and Ted Hern will serve as pallbearers. John Higgins, J.R. Higgins, Joe Higgins, Geno Higgins, Freddie Higgins and Albert Flinn will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Star Chapter No. 44, 300 Baca Ave., Santa Rosa, NM 88435.
