Alfonso Romero, age 82, a liflelong resident of Chacon, N.M., passed away on Friday, March 15, 2010, at the Colfax General Longterm Care Facility in Springer, NM.
He was born on April 22, 1927, to the late Manuel Romero y Maes and Ninfa Trujillo Romero. Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie Romero and two sons, Alfonso Romero, Jr. and Manuel M. Romero.
He is survived by his daughter, Bernadette Romero of Chacon, N.M.; sons, Jerry Romero and wife Mary V. of Las Vegas and Herman Romero and wife Liz of Buena Vista, N.M.; daughter-in-law, Mary P. Romero of Rio Rancho, N.M.; grandchildren Manuel Romero, Jr. (Sandra) of LeDoux, N.M., Matthew Romero (Jessica) of Chacon, N.M., Mario Romero (Louella) of Rio Rancho, Marcus Romero (Miriam) of Cuba, N.M., Jerriette Villegas (Andrew) of Las Cruces, Julio Romero (Bridgette) of Las Vegas, Hope Romero (Albert) of Rainsville, N.M., Meagan Romero, Emilio Romero and Lizzette Romero all of Buena Vista, N.M.; great grandchildren are Ryan, Keith, Dominic, Donavon, Derrick, Samantha, Krystian, and Makayla; brother Manuel Romero of Guadalupita, N.M.; sister Rosa Vigil of Massachusets; brother-in-law Johnny Gallegos (Margaret) of Cheyenne, Wyo.; sister-in-law Adelia Romero of California. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Saint Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora; rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, and the funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010. Interment will follow at a later time at the Chacon Cemetery. In accordance with Mr. Romero's wishes, cremation had taken place.
