Ida Miller Aragon, age 82, a lifelong resident of Sandoval County and a retired publc school teacher for 42 years, passed away at her home in Bernalillo after an extended illness. Ida, the daughter of R.H. and Minnie Sophia Minchey Miller, was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel L. Aragon, a son, Mark Anthony Aragon and a sister, Mary Sandoval. Ida is survived by two daughters, Sandra A. Pino and her husband, Carlos of Bernalillo and KiKi Munera and her husband, Eddie of Albuquerque, three sons, M. Roanie Aragaon and his wife, Theresa, Arbie Aragon of Albuquerque and Robert E. "Skip" and his wife, Katerina of Rio Rancho, sister, Ethel M. Lopez and her husband, Abel, and brother, Ben Miller and his wife, Evangeline, all of Bernalillo, a sister-in-law, Lucy Salazar of Stockton, CA and a very special friend and caretaker, Judy Heath. Ida, affectionately known as Yaya, is also survived by 18 loving and devoted grandchildren, Mark, Gino, Dorothy, Delia, Manuelita and Nicole Aragon, Denise Ortiz, Allen Pino, Carla Hubbard and Kevin Pino, Lisa and Vince Aragon, Tiffany and Erik Munera, Amber and Les Aragon, and Todd Palmer, ten great-grandchildren, Janelle, Nathan, Britanny, Cyndi, Steve, Elliot, Evan, Cary and Aurey and numerous loving nieces and nephews. A special thank you to granddaughter, Tiffany Munera for her love and dedicated care. Ida was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Ida touched the lives of hundreds of Sandoval County students during her teaching career. Ida began her career teaching in a one room school house at Mesa Portales in rural northern Sandoval County. Ida also taught at Porter, NM and Corrales, NM. Ida spent the majority of her teaching career at Roosevelt Elementary School in Bernalillo where she taught three generations of students. Her dedication and the interest she took in the students she taught was well known throughout the communities she served. In September of 1997, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) honored her by naming a scholarship in her name. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Giudice and Dr. Kathleen Blake and the Presbyterian Hospice staff for the care they provided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 5800 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109, or the American Heart Institue, 1330 San Pedro Dr. NE, Albuquerqe, NM 87110. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, May 2, 1998 at 6:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE.
