John Howard Andes, son of Mr.and Mrs. M. E. Andes entered the Army March 21, 1944, sailed for overseas in October, spent 2 months in the ETO, fought with Ninth Army in Battle of Belgian Bulge, was killed in action in Rotgeu, Germany on Dec 15,1944.

PLAN SERVICES FOR JOHN H. ANDES AT GRAVESIDE
Graveside services were scheduled for this afternoon for John H. Andes, first Clovis area repatriated overseas casualty to be returned for burial.
Andes' body, accompanied by T-Sgt. Rollin W. Hood, a member of the Second Field Artillery Battalion, Ft. Sill, Okla., arrived in Clovis Tuesday morning and was transported to Portales in a Wheeler Mortuary vehicle.
Veterans of Clovis and Portales service organizations were on hand at the railroad station in Clovis when the flag-draped casket was taken off the west bound train.
Rites were to be conducted today by the Rev. Ernest Wheeler at the Benson cemetery near the ranch home where the young man grew up.
Young Andes was killed Dec. 15, 1944 in the Battle of the Bulge, after having been in the Army only nine months and overseas only two months.
