Funeral services for Peggy C. Adkins were held Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with Rev. Billy Nipper and Rev. Tony Dixon officiating.
Marcene Freeman, pianist, played soft music for the service. She accompanied herself and Rev. Royce Freeman as they sang "The Longer I Serve Him" and "I Love To Tell The Story." The service was concluded with the congregation singing "Amazing Grace."
Pallbearers were Lance Weldon, Garrick Weldon, Kep Parsons, Earl Adkins, Lee Adkins, and Phil Adkins. The committal service conducted by Rev. Jim Cox was in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Mrs. Adkins passed away Thursday at Crisp Regional Hospital. Born in Crisp County, she was the daughter of the late Tiny Stephen and Alice Nipper Conner. She was a retired teacher in the Crisp County School System and an active member of Bethel Baptist Church and the WMU.
Mrs. Adkins is survived by her husband, J.W. Adkins, Jr. of Crisp County; her daughter and her husband, Joy and Wayne White of Cordele; a brother, Steve Conners of Texas; and a brother-in-law Kermit Parsons, Sr. of Lake Jackson. She was preceded in death by a sister, Retha Faye Parsons, and brothers, Hugh Conner and Kenny Conner. The family may be contacted at the residence of Joy and Wayne White, 2031 Highway 257, Cordele.
