Mrs. Anderson was born in Tate Springs, Tennessee in 1925 to the parents of Walter Mattison, Sr., and Ida Jennings Mattison. Mrs. Anderson was the youngest and last surviving sibling of Leila Mattison, Walter Mattison, Jr., Cecil Harris, and Hazel Cowan. Mrs. Anderson married Wesley Gideon Anderson, Sr. in 1953 in Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Anderson was a tireless educator and community servant, dedicating her life to teaching, nurturing and guiding hundreds of young people in their formative years. She was a 1947 graduate of Spelman College. Mrs. Anderson received her Masters in Education from Atlanta University in 1967. She retired in 1988 after having taught for 40 years with 37 of them in the Atlanta Public School System. A person full of energy and desire to give back, Diana was an active part of several community causes in the area. She funneled most of her energies through her church Allen Temple A.M.E., the Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Las Hermanas Club, Scouting, and the Emmaus House Summer Program. In Mrs. Anderson's spare time she was an annual patron of the Atlanta Symphony, Alliance Theatre, and Atlanta Opera.
