Henry Lofton, 50, died Thursday at his residence after a long illness. He was a native of Albany and a member of Coner Stone Baptist Church in Newark, N.J. He had lived in Brooklet for several years and was employed as an orderly.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Lofton, Brooklet; two daughters, Shakia Lawson and Sophelia Lawson, both of Newark; one son, Troy Lawson, Newark; one step-daughter, Konya Brewton, Lyons; two stepsons, Charles E. Williams, Panama City, Fla., and James Williams III, Millen; his mother, Sophie Akin, Brooklet; his father, Willie Lawson, Newark; his stepfather, David Akin, Brooklet; three sisters, Dorothy Howard, Brooklet, Katherine Frink, Lakewood, N.J. and Jannie Lawson, Memphis, Tenn.; four brothers, Willie Alf Lawson, East Orange, N.J., Willie Zell Lawson and Steve Lawson, both of Brooklet, Virriol Lawson, Statesboro; his grandmother, Jannie Allen, Statesboro; and other relatives.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 5 p.m. at St. Mary's United Methodist Church in Brooklelt with Rev. N. Clanton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. James R. Barnes Mortuary.
