Maude Lee Smith Hendley, 91, was dead on arrival at Bulloch Memorial Hospital Saturday after an extended illness. The Bulloch County native was a member of the St. Mary's United Methodist Church and the Naomi Court No. 26, Heroines of Jericho.
Survivors include 10 daughters, Jessie Mae Reid and Mildred Royal, both of Savannah, Lethia Frazier, Jamaica, Long Island, N.Y., Juanita McClendon, Miami, Fla., Gertrude brown, Iona Hendley, Katherine Lee, Alma Hendley, Betty Brown and Alzena McGrady, all of Statesboro; two sons, O'Neal Hendley and L.W. Hendley, both of Statesboro; a sister, Sarah Christian, Statesboro; 29 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brannen Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Amos O. Holmes officiating. Interment will be in the St. Mary's United Methodist Church Cemetery. Payton's Mortuary.
