Mrs. Ann Tuten Bennett, age 82, of Blackshear, died Sunday afternoon (3-31-13) at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following a short illness.
A lifelong resident of Blackshear, Mrs. Bennett was born December 11, 1930 to the Late Omer and Susie Richardson Tuten. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Blackshear.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband J.E. Bennett. Jr.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by two daughters: Gail Mattox (husband Shelby) and Susan Beckner (husband Randy) and two sons: James Bennett (wife Brenda)and Rodney Bennett (wife Rhonda), all of Blackshear; 5 grandchildren: Marcie Claas (husband Eric) of Franklin, TN, Scott Mattox of Jesup, Kyle Bennett of Fort Campbell, KY, Gina Walker (husband Warren) of Blackshear, and Ellie Kay Bennett of Blackshear; 2 great grandchildren: Landon and Nicholas Claas of Franklin, TN and another great grandchild expected in October; her sister: Pinkie Bell (husband Walt) of Blackshear; her brother: Marion Tuten (wife Jeanelle) of Alma; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Wednesday at 2 PM at First Baptist Church in Blackshear. Burial will follow in Ramah Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
