Mrs. Cordia McMillan Ellison, age 78, died on Monday, March 29, from injuries she sustained in a fire at her residence. She was a native of Bulloch County and a member of Summerhill Missionary Baptist Church. She was a retired cook.
She is survived by seven daughters, Katie (Terence) Lewis, Mary (John) White, Martha Smith, Queen Hodges and Josephine (James) Rock, all of Statesboro, Linda (Robert) McLean, Columbia, S.C., and Idellia Richardson, Rocky Mountain, N.C.; three sons, Frank (Frances) Herrington and John Herrington, both of Statesboro, and Kennal (Sandra) Herrington, Atlanta; three sisters, Margaret McMillan, Inez Hodges and Daisy Smith, all of Statesboro; two brothers, Alexander McMillan and William McMillan, both of Statesboro; four stepdaughters, two stepsons, 28 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Mrs. Ellison will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Marc L. Williams, presiding and the Rev. Joe Herrington, eulogist. Burial will be in the church cemetery. James R. Barnes Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
