Clint Adcox of Marietta, Georgia, passed away July 3, 2014. The funeral was held in the Chapel of Marietta Funeral Home with Dr. Don Mason and Dr. Al Southerland officiating. Interment followed at Pine Ridge Memorial Park in Kennesaw.
Mr. and Mrs. Adcox were one of the founding families of Piedmont Baptist Church. During his many years at Piedmont, he served along side his wife as co-president of XYZ's senior group. In recent years, he was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church where they also served as co-presidents of the "Young In Heart" senior group.
Mr. Adcox was born and raised in Henegar, Alabama. He joined the Army/Air Force and served his country during WWII. He was a Corporal in the 6th Bomb Squad, 29th Bomb Group. He was awarded the ATO Medal, APTO Medal, and Distinguished Unit Badge with Bronze Cluster. He was a part of the Air Offensive of Japan.
He met his beloved wife Nell in 1944 and they were married the same year. Upon returning from service to his country, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History from Jacksonville State University. After graduation, he relocated to Marietta, Georgia to work for Lockheed-Martin in plane design.
While layed off from Lockheed, Mr. Adcox attended the University of Georgia where he received his Masters in Education Degree. He taught DCT for the Cobb County School District until he was recalled to work for Lockheed Martin. Mr. Adcox was a member of the American Legion Post 29. After retirement, Mr. Adcox took great pride in working in his yard and his two vegetable gardens.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nell. They were married 69 years. Mr. Adcox is survived by his son Dr. Bill (Susan) Adcox of Peachtree City; daughters Dr. Ann (Mike) Gazell and Rebecca (Rick) Martin-Duff, both of Canton; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
