| Birth: | Feb. 11, 1914 | | Death: | Sep. 12, 2001 |  Services for Lucille Pursley Abare, 87, of Slaton will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Englunds Chapel with Bill Jernigan and the Rev. Bill Tipton officiating.
Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
She died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001.
She was born Feb. 11, 1914, in Toledo, Ohio, and moved to the Slaton area in 1956 from the Midwest. She married Howard Pursley on Dec. 23, 1939. He died Feb. 28, 1972. She married George A. Abare on June 17, 1984, in Southland. He died June 7, 2001. She lived in Houston before returning to Slaton in 1970. She was a home-care provider, a homemaker and a member of Faith Christian Church.
A daughter, Carolyn Massey, died July 19, 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Payne of Slaton; a son, John Pursley of Show Low, Ariz.; three stepsons, Derell Payne and Kay Calvin Abare, both of Slaton, and Arthur Abare of Lubbock; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
