Mrs Mary J Adkins died Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Hamilton House Nursing Home in Columbus, GA. She was born March 29, 1926 in Russell County, AL, daughter of Frank and Mary Banks Thomas.

She retired from J C Penny an was a member of Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church in Phenix City and was the widow of Henry Adkins.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Chris A Hollis of Columbus and Dr Treana (Richard) Bowling of Greensboro, NC; 2 grandsons, All (Sonya) Hollis of Columbus and Christopher Hollis of Orlando, FL; 2 great granddaughters, Breyannah Hollis and Morgan Hollis, both of Columbus; 2 sisters in law, Ola White of Smiths, AL and Rebecca Smith of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and a life long friend, Ms Ella Mae Shelling of Columbus.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006 Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church and burial will follow in Green Acres cemetery in Columbus, GA. Pastor Richard Carter will officiate.
