William Reedy Akins, 81, passed away December 6, 2005 in Lansing, IA.

Born in Evans County in 1924, Reedy served 6 years in the US Navy and was discharged at Great Lakes, IL, where he resided for the next 38 years.

He retired to Claxton in 1989 where he lived until August 2005, and then due to health issues moved to be closer to his immediate family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Akins of Waukegan, IL, and four children, Mona (Bob) Day of Lansing, IA, Eddie (Beverly) Akins of Beach Park, IL, Linda (Ray) Herman of Elgin, IL and Roger Akins of Zion, IL; four grand-children and one great-grandchild, as well as three brothers: Elton Akins and Edwin Akins of Claxton and Tim Akins of Savannah, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5-8:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2005 at J. Mellie Nesmith Funeral Home, Claxton

Funeral: 11 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2005 in the Chapel of J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.

Burial: Emmaus Church Cemetery.
