Mary Alma Massey Alston
DAWSON — Mary Alma Massey Alston, 98, formerly of Parrott died on Thursday, February 26, 2004, at Palmyra Medical Centers in Albany. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson.
Mrs. Alston was native of Stewart County, born January 17, 1906 daughter of the late Charlie Monroe Massey and Leona Tomlin Massey. She lived most of her life in Terrell County, was a homemaker and a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. Her husband was the late Frank Fletcher Alston Sr. of Parrott and great-grandson Charlie Alston Laviner.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Louis Alston of Parrott and great-grandson, Charles Alston of Laviner.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Alston Jr. and wife, Becky, and Charlie Alston and wife Merle, all of Parrott; a daughter, Mary Frank Laviner and a husband, David of Dawson; daughter-in-law, Mary Sue Alston of Parrott; sister- in-law, Theresa Massey of Winter Garden, FL; seven grandchildren, Ronald Alston and Dennis Alston, both of Albany; Steve Alston of Parrott; Beth Alston of Americus; Gayle Alston of Jacksonville, FL; Jane Taylor and husband Billy of Fernandina Beach, FL and Bruce Laviner and wife, Debbie of Troy, AL; eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Visitation will be at Harvey Funeral Home, today from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
