Mr. Robert Boatright, 74, passed away Thursday morning, December 31, 2009, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center.
Born in Bacon County on May 24, 1935, Mr. Boatright had lived all over the world during his career in the United States Air Force before returning to Bristol in 1978 following his retirement. Mr. Boatright retired as a Master Sergeant after twenty years of meticulous service. While in the Air Force he had served during the Vietnam conflict. He was a very active member of Bristol Baptist Church where he in the Adult Sunday school class. Mr. Boatright was also a member of the Bristol Baptist Men's Ministry and was chairman of the maintenance committee. He was an avid fisherman and was considered the "community handy man". He was a son of the late Earl & Lula Mae Davis Boatright.
Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Juanita Nichols Boatright of Bristol; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Boatright of Bristol and Teresa Boatright Rodriquez, husband Julian, of Apopka, FL; a son, Tony Boatright of Crestview, FL; five sisters, Bonnie Gordon Ham of Screven, Wannie Mae Metts, husband Talmadge, of Bristol, Shelia Smith, husband C. B., of Mershon, Judy Allen, husband Leon, of Alma and Paula Quinn of Venice, FL; five brothers, Kenneth "Runt" Boatright, wife Deloris, and Joe Pete Boatright, wife Sandra, all of Blackshear, Sam Boatright, wife Janet, of Murrells Inlet, SC, Bobby Boatright of Bristol and Mack Boatright of Offerman; 9 grandchildren, April Carver, husband Bobby, Amy Lee, husband Aaron, Julian Boatright, Caleb Boatright, Jessica Williams, husband Michael, Christopher Boatright, Danielle Wilson, Jennifer Rodriquez and Robert Rodriquez; 5 great grandchildren, Paige Carver, Wayne "Bud" Carver, Briana Lee, Victoria Golinda and Lily Williams and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
Visitation for Mr. Boatright will be held Saturday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mr. Boatright will be held Sunday afternoon, January 3, 2010, at 2:00 o'clock Bristol Baptist Church.
Mr. Boatright will lay in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Members of the Adult Sunday school class of Bristol Baptist and the Country Boys Coffee Club are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers and should meet at the church by 1:30 Sunday afternoon.
Interment will be in the Bristol Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Knights of Honor from Moody Air Force Base.
